I had a meeting with Mr. Parks before my back surgery, and it left me completely unprepared for the length of my recovery time. Instead of even mentioning this, he discussed the (very short) time it would be until I would have "no restrictions." I expect I'm like most people in not knowing what "no restrictions" means within the orthopedics profession. I thought it meant full recovery -- no pain, no longer crippled, having a normal life again. Ha ha. Not even close! I made serious, life-changing plans based on when I thought I would be recovered from my surgery. This misunderstanding cost me and others considerable expense and inconvenience, to say nothing of the emotional pain of realizing that a recovery time I thought would be a matter of weeks is in fact still ongoing at 10 months.
