My only comment to Jay is to please remember to look at your patient and not rely on a test. While the rapid strep claims it is 70% to 95% accurate in diagnosing Strep A. In practice it is more like 60%. Also there are more types of strep that cause strep throat. If your patients throat, looks like strep, smells like strep, most likely it is strep, waiting can cause rheumatic fever. I understand not wanting to prescribe antibiotics for every little thing, but waiting for a culture be bad
