Dr. Jennifer Buchman, PHD

I was shocked to see the negative review. I have been under Dr. Buchman's care for 3 years, and she is one of the most caring psychologists I have seen. She deeply cares about her patients and always incorporates cultural concepts into her treatment, considering differences in culture. Every time I went through dark moments, she offered suggestions or solutions. She helped me with challenging school tasks, assisted me with a Schedule A letter, and anything else I asked for. She always made an effort to help me, even in her own time. I don't want to invalidate someone's negative review, but I simply want to share my experiences. I also want to point out that there can be chemistry between people, including doctors and patients. Sometimes, it may not be anyone's fault; it just may not be a good fit. I hope everyone finds the healing they are seeking, one way or another.

I was under Dr. Buchman’s care for a year before I moved to community care. She’s a great provider who follows her treatment plans to the T. If you can’t handle your own issues and aren’t open to treatment, don’t go. Dr. Buchman doesn’t do b*llshit. She tells it to you like it is and is very supportive at initiating lifestyle change. I’ve had many providers who just feel like they go through the motions. Dr. Buchman cares. Period.

This doctor thinks one size of treatment fits all. She makes you feel extremely uncomfortable and bad for seeking help. She is a nightmare to try to speak to and she's a mental health professional located at our local VA in Seattle. Due to my direct experience with her, I have paid alot out of pocket to see other professionals not associated with the VA. She lied in my records stating I was non compliant and refused treatment. When in fact I refused her form of treatment and she made me so uncomfortable I quit going to see her. I spoke with her again recently and not a single thing has changed in about 2 years. She spoke down at me, cut me off while I was in a very dark moment and needed a hand. Again she has pushed me in another direction for my treatment which as a combat vet with multiple deployments I should be getting at my VA with no push back from its providers. I will be writing a letter to the hospital administration because this behavior towards patients is unacceptable.
