A great fit for our family
I first met Joan 16 years ago after having my first baby and struggling through postpartum. She was a great help to me then, and still is today for every member of my family! She helps us navigate through the tricky spots and see our way to staying healthy. She’s the best!

Professional & Moving
Joanie has helped me in insurmountable ways. She has helped me learn my own form of self-respect and self-love as well as aiding in my rise from rock bottom. She has always supported me in any decision I want to make for myself and has really helped me learn how to cope with my issues in a healthy way. Would recommend Joanie to anyone in need and can say with confidence that she is a professional!

Joan has been such a blessing in my life for the last 1.5 years. I respond best to people who are equal parts honest and kind. For me, she is perfect balance with her personable and funny personality, all while being very direct and pushing me to grow. She has supported me through all kinds of life challenges and I would recommend her to anyone who is ready to accept support with a specific issue, or just life's regular ups and downs.

Joan is an incredibly dedicated therapist who is solutions-oriented and goal-oriented. She provides objective and honest feedback to directly improve your personal situation. She worked with my mom who struggles with anxiety and depression. My mom worked with various psychiatrists and therapists since the late 1980s. As an adult I wanted to reach out to someone who could not only help my mom but who could guide me as a child of a person with mental illness. Joan was the first therapist to provide my mom and our family with the strength to overcome mental health obstacles. She is dedicated to our family, at least that's exactly how it feels. She has helped in transforming our family dynamic so that we can enjoy other aspects of our lives and relationships. She also provides incredibly valuable insight on work-life balance and stress management. I highly recommend her.

I saw Joan for a few months and I’m still undoing a lot of the damage her “therapy” had on me. She’s constantly doing house work (because she works out of her home) and doesn’t make up for it in timing even though your paying her to listen to you. She’s not able to connect with people that are at a lower SES than her-not everyone is upper class and not everyone wants to be because it’s super disconnected. She doesn’t have a good memory so you end up repeating things multiple times which is not validating at all - part of her job is to actively listen and not text people or work on their computers. So as someone that grew up ignored and unappreciated by my own mother and constantly told about how “if I lost weight” someone would like me or life would be good enough. These things were more detrimental for my health than not seeing a therapist at all would have been. I literally felt more depressed after. So if you don’t connect with her style trust yourself and find someone better.

Joan was the worst help I could get. She was unprofessional, forgot about appointments, tried to charge me for appointments we never set. But that is not the worst, she asked 3 times in a row how my Dad had passed away, she asked me why I was so concern about my Mom dying from Alzheimer's (She did not know how the Alzheimer's kills you). I am Hispanic, and she instantaneously assumed I was Mexican -nothing against Mexicans, but it gets to show the lack of professionalism this so-called professional has. I saw her over a year ago, and I cannot still recover from how much she hurt me - opening up about your pain is hard and she deceived all my trust. I am going to report her.

Joan is one of the best therapists I have ever had. She truly cares about her patients and their overall well being. I have been to several therapists over the years and was hesitant to go back again because I felt all therapists are the same and don't truly care about their patients. Since I have been seeing Joan, I feel my confidence has increased and I am able to cope with situations much better. I would highly recommend Joan Walmsley as a therapist!
