John Croft, PA

I went in to st joes Er after having waited 2 hours at Sutter urgent care. They had sent me to the er after telling me I needed tests done they could not perform. I was triaged right away and dr Croft was the pa on duty. He took me back right away and although his bedside manner is a bit abrupt, he is an er dr and has to see person after person. Friendly bedside manner really wouldn’t be appropriate in this environment as he cannot be forming lasting bonds with patients due to the importance of his position in seeing as many patients as possible. He was prompt. Direct. And despite after all the testing nothing seemed to be wrong with me, although something else totally irrelevant was accidentally found, he maintained his line of care for me from beginning to end, informing me in what I needed to know and when while still caring for the full er that day. Er doctors and nurses have to see so many people and some cases are quite disturbing and involve some serious attention.

My wife and I went to St. Joseph's hospital due to my wife having complications with her pregnancy and ultimately having her miscarriage at the hospital bathroom. John Croft was our PA and he was as jaded and far from any form of empathy as they come. We were visibly distraught since this was our first pregnancy and we feared the worst. Right from the start, he questioned my wife how she actually knew she was pregnant. When we weren't able to answer a question correctly or were confused he sighed like we were a bother to him. Once my wife passed the baby, she was taken to the OBGYN room where he came by approx 1 hour later and opened her up as roughly as he could have with no type of remorse for her obvious pain. As quickly as he went in, he left just as fast. For my job, I go to the hospital a lot and I get to know the nurses and doctors around me. He is the worst mannered person I have ever seen at a hospit. If you have lost that soft feeling for your patients, please retire.
