Dr. Jon Girvetz, PHD

My son saw Dr. Girvetz a while back when he was in middle school. Things seemed to be going fine until I picked up my son one day, only to hear that Dr. Girvetz had taken him out of the office to get pizza. This was not cleared by me ahead of time, nor would I have allowed it. To take my 13 yo son, in his car, without my permission seemed at best unprofessional, and at worst very troubling. When I confronted Dr. Girvetz, he saw nothing wrong, and said that he was hungry and invited my kid to go get a snack with him.

Dr. Girvetz formed a bond with our son from the outset. We saw him on a recommendation for a family therapist then saw a connection between the two of them and it has worked out very well. Dr. Girvetz is importantly patient with our boy. He recognizes his strengths and is helping him meet his challenges with a new-found maturity (and with success). Our boy has opened up emotionally. He trusts the Dr. and we, as parents, have been invited in to sessions when appropriate, which has been helpful.

My son has seen Dr Girvetz for over a year. Dr Girvetz has an ease and rapport with my son that is remarkable and has opened the door to productive communication. My son is doing much better- and a portion of this is certainly due to Dr Girvetz.

Dr. Girvetz was very well liked by both of our sons who saw him in therapy. He has a very down to earth style, and is great at engaging with young men and teenagers as well as families. He is also very experienced having been in the field for a long time.
