Joseph Acciaioli, LCSW

When I found out Joseph Acciaioli was leaving to go into private practice, I was in shock; then, I felt extreme distress. Next, anger. But now, I only wish him the best in his new setting and know he will do fantastic since he is a compassionate and knowledgeable licensed social worker with whom I was gifted for the duration I was in his care. Thank you, Joe, for your kindness and patience which I will greatly miss.

Joe is a low quality social worker/therapist, in my opinion. In the three years I have spent with him, I have wasted much valuable time. Joseph Acciaioli can say a lot without ever saying anything worthwhile or valuable. Quality mental health care workers are lacking. It is a harsh reality. Because there are so many patients in need, I don’t think much is expected from counselors anymore.

Joe Acciaioli has proven to me that compassion and empathy in mental health workers is a thing of the past and no longer a requirement for offering patients quality care. Every one of his future plans for me never came to pass as his entire interest in my care waned and he seemed to become all together disinterested in my concerns and issues. If health care workers such as Joe Acciaioli are the type of therapists to which the future of America can look forward, we are headed toward disaster.

Seems okay at first, but when his true personality emerges, he lacks depth for compassion and empathy. Maybe he’s just acting out this fake compassion on a cognitive level, but I don’t think he’s actually feeling it. I have experienced Joseph Acciaioli‘s care and once he decides to move on, despite past fallacies of “devotion”, he’ll do so in the most insensitive manner possible without any delicacy or feelings for his “former” clients. He promises great things for his patients’, but will leave them without a moment’s notice if a better opportunity comes up for him. Lacks professionalism, dedication and loyalty in my opinion. His behavior is the reason people steer away from therapists.

Out-of-the-blue, I received a letter from Joe Acciaioli that he is resigning his current position & going into private practice elsewhere. I had to hear this, not from him (though we email back and forth, often) but from a generic typed letter. After finally trusting him, along with his future-faking promises of doing EMDR Therapy with me, & other avenues he was custom-preparing toward the advancement of my emotional health, along with graceful email replies telling me several times he was going absolutely nowhere, I received this blanket letter (to boot, he also stated it might be hard to find another therapist since they’re sparse in our county; thanks, Joe). The entire demonstration of glib, cold-hearted colors beneath his exterior mask of compassion was disorienting. It’s not the point that he is moving on; it’s the callous way he ended it in this crude & brutal manner even though we were so close. From my experience, devotion no longer exists from therapists toward their clients.

He comes off kind and caring but without a moment’s notice, he’ll leave his patients “high & dry” with a generic letter of his resignation (even after promising his future care to the most vulnerable).

He gets the patient feeling comfortable with him and then suddenly leaves for a better job elsewhere with no regard for the traumatized patient despite future promises to never abandon the patient. When he does suddenly leave, he sends out a dry, generic letter stating he hopes his clients can find a new therapist even though they’re hard to come by in Butte County. Thanks, Joe.
