The first and only visit I had with her was basically 40 minutes of silence. She first just gave me a print out about depersonalization as I had mentioned it in my email. I had so much to discuss but she didn’t ask me questions, didn’t make me feel safe to speak with her or comfortable to be in the room at all, so I was waiting and hoping she might begin to direct conversation. Instead we just sat and before the session even ended she goes “maybe you should just come back when you actually have something to talk about” I left and those words stuck with me, I never sought out a new therapist. Luckily I’ve figured it out on my own. I’d never recommend her.

Lacked empathy and was not person-centered. Equated situational depression to "just a funk" that I needed to "move on" from.

From the moment I meant Ms. Weaver, I felt a very cold presence. She offered no friendly greeting upon our first interaction and proceeded to tell me to sit in a chair that was short and unsuitable for a 6’0” woman. Meanwhile, she sat in a posh chair, essentially looking down upon me as I spoke, which made me feel judged and uncomfortable. When informed of my struggles with body positivity, she informed me that everyday I should just wake up and say “I love me” to myself. I could have received better advice from a quick google search. When asked of who I lived with, I informed her that I have currently two roommates but that I would be living alone next year. To this revelation, she responded with “huh, I guess you better get happy before then” with no other comment. When I cried, she offered no tissue or consolation. I left Ms. Weaver’s office feeling alone and helpless. I would not recommend her counseling for anyone I know who is struggling with their mental health.
