A truly deplorable provider
Karen Day is one of the worst providers I have ever seen. I had a mental breakdown at one point while I was her patient & became suicidal. I applied for long-term disability & asked Karen if she would fill out the forms I needed. Not only did she refuse, but she also had the gall to become upset when I was granted long-term disability. Getting disability saved my life. Yet Karen was still petty & passive aggressive. She later dismissed me from the practice, saying that my case was too complicated for her. There’s nothing quite like having the person you pay to manage your mental health effectively tell you that you’re a lost cause. That stuck with me for a while. I had never had a provider say something like that to me before & no one has said that to me since. Karen ought to consider a profession where she can’t actively wreck people’s mental health. She is rude, lacks empathy, looks down on people with mental health disorders, & only wants to work with easy patients.

Sweetly Condescending and Fully Non-Empathetic
Telehealth
Karen is all sugar until you question something or need help. There is no reasonable adult conversation that can be had with Karen, she is sweetly condescending and fully non-empathetic. The front office staff is also very hands off and difficult to work with. I do not recommend this office or Karen.

Provider Needs More Training
Neither Ms. DAY or the office staff are easy to work with. Ms. Day does not take serious side effects seriously. She has lowest empathy ratings of anyone I have seen. Office staff is incompetent and uncaring and Ms. DAY defends them without even discussing the issue with her client.

Do not patronize this office. After a 3.5 month process of filling out and resending and calling their office about 12 times I was finally given and appointment 4 weeks later. Mind you I have been without help and off my medicine for months. I called the office 7 minutes BEFORE my appointment was scheduled and was told I would not be seen because I did not call 30 minutes early and moreover I owed a $300 missed appointment fee. When I begged and pleaded for some relief or understanding I was repeatedly scolded for not reading the fine print. I never even got to see anyone.

My daughter was being treated by Karen Day at Wake Psychiatry. Their office manager mishandled the billing and insurance, and my insurance ended up having to call their office manager to ensure they stopped overcharging us. However, after that conversation with the office manager, Karen let me know she thought it would be better for my daughter to be seen by the pediatrician, rather than her going forward. She cited the conversation with the office manager as the reason, although when asked, she could not tell me specifically what I had said or done that was the problem. I knew the office manager at Wake Psychiatry acted unprofessionally in the situation, and I am disappointed that Karen did as well. I would not recommend her to someone looking for care.

Karen is excellent at her job. She is empathetic. She has the ability to be sensitive to and share in the feelings of her patients. She is open minded and does not hold any judgement. Karen also has great tenacity. She exemplifies determination and perseverance to make sure my issues are addressed and treat efficiently and effectively. This is a very important quality because she genuinely cares about her patients recovery and well being.

Karen dismissed me from the practice for "excessive missed appointments and failure to follow up with medication management" when I kept trying to be seen by them over the course of 3 months, and I had 3 appointments cancelled because none of the providers want to work full time, and I had one appointment that I was told was scheduled, but when I showed up they said the appointment was never made. Stay FAR AWAY from Karen Day and Wake Psychiatry.

Karen Day is very thorough and knowledgeable. Her empathy and caring for her patients runs deep. She helped me get on the right medications after I had been misdiagnosed by another provider for years. I’ve been seeing her for about a year and she is excellent

She truly cares about her patients and will give you extra time if needed. What I really like about her is that she is very knowledgable with current up to date practice and is the only provider that has ever provided a research article to me to help me understand why a certain medication class was the best option for me. Karen is the type of provider that takes her time to really consider options in my care and she always asks if I have any questions at the end of the visit. She is amazing!
