Dr. Kathleen Ronan, PHD

My wife’s review is above, but I wanted to add to it based on my experiences with Dr. Ronan. During Covid lockdown I had a desperate need to just get out of the house-not because of my family. I just needed air. Space. Freedom. I handled it badly & take full responsibility. I left for 3 days & didn’t talk to my family. When I came back my wife & I went to Kathy’s. (I regularly went to sessions to learn how to help.) Only this day Kathy yelled at my wife that it was her fault I left (a charge I then & still deny). She continued to yell at my wife for a variety of things. My wife broke down & 2 years later doesn’t leave the house & is dealing with suicidal feelings again. My wife loved her. When she began painting, she started a lovely horse as a gift since Kathy loved horses. I was shocked by Kathy’s behavior. She had been so good to, and for, my wife for 15 years. I’m at a total loss for why any therapist would drop a patient with abandonment issues in such a way & with no explanation.

As a SA survivor Dr. Kathy Ronan (as a trauma-trained therapist) 100% understood me. She correctly diagnosed me with CPTSD, agoraphobia, & fear of abandonment. She spoke to my Dr. to ensure I got the meds I needed. I will forever be glad for the lessons Kathy taught me. I went from suicidal to able to analyze situations & respond appropriately. While I was with Kathy (15 years) I lost a friend & other horrible incidents. Kathy assured me it was not my fault. Yet, on the last visit she began by yelling at me & said everything she had told me was a lie–lost friends, etc. it really WAS my fault. (I later learned through independent sources more about the situations & they were not my fault.) I left in tears. I wanted to work it out or have a final session to wrap things up-have her explain what I had done & recommend another counselor. She refused. I still don’t know what I did for her to treat me in such a cruel manner. While once I often praised her, I can no longer recommend her.
