My wife & I met with Kathrine Parnell over 25x the last few years to help work through issues in our marriage. In my opinion, her methods & advice were very one-sided the vast majority of sessions. The last straw is when Kathrine suggested I stay living separately from my wife after an initial 30-day "cooling off" period. She's trained in The Gottman Institute Method for Couples Therapy which states "If a couple assesses their commitment and decides their relationship is worth saving, a cooling-off period of about six months, while living apart, can help couples work through negative emotions about their marriage or their spouse." After 60 days of separation, I came to our next therapy session prepared with a list of things I can do to help save my marriage, and my wife showed up with divorce papers. Rather than encouraging us to continue working on our marriage via a 6-month trial separation, she offered ZERO hope or optimism to save our marriage. Her Therapy Killed My Marriage.
