I always feel very rushed in our appointments and don’t feel like she has the greatest grasp on psych pharmacology. I once had to correct her when she told me zolpidem was a benzo (it’s a “non-benzo sedative hypnotic). She can’t be that far out of PA school, so I can give her some slack there, but a de facto role of a PAs supervising physician is to make sure their PAs are comfortable enough with the specialty to have a thorough knowledge about the most commonly prescribed medicines in that specialty. Oh and she never smiles or shows any inclination to want to get to know me as a person (a Psych NP definitely would, given the more holistic approach to the nursing school of thought). So maybe it’s her training, or maybe it’s just her. On a positive note she is very efficient and though I feel rushed off the appointment with her, sometimes I don’t mind that. All in all, not a bad practitioner. She just has a lot more to learn in her career.
