I saw this therapist for over a year until we decided to separate for 2 years (obeying rules) in order to potentially enter into a personal relationship. Lots of boundaries crossed. Left feeling worse because I was lead on and really trusted her. I was in therapy in part because of my ignorance to red flags and was hoping to gain insight as to why . You don’t recognize red flags with a therapist because you are with a person you trust. I thought she knew what she was doing and trusted her so whole heartedly. I learned a lot through a negative and painful experience so I guess that’s a positive. But honestly, she (especially as a therapist) should have known better. She did not do for me what was in my best interest and she did harm. I’m doing fine now because I’ve worked hard. A regret I have though, is not reporting her. I hope this is not a norm for her. I would hate to think it happened to other vulnerable people. Everyone is vulnerable in therapy. She took advantage of that.
