I had an extremely disappointing experience with Laura Ellsworth as the GAL in my custody case. Her approach was unprofessional, biased, and failed to meet even the basic standards of her role. She did not fulfill her responsibilities as required and instead pursued a personal agenda rather than acting in the best interests of my children. Ms. Ellsworth pushed for the involvement of an unlicensed professional despite clear objections, disregarding the well-being of my family. It was evident from the beginning that she had made up her mind about the case before conducting a thorough and impartial evaluation. Rather than providing support, she created unnecessary pain and chaos in an already difficult situation—leaving a lasting negative impact on my children and me. Her behavior in court was equally concerning. In front of both my attorney and me, she approached my therapist before testimony and repeatedly told her to "stay in your lane" in a manner that was clearly intended to intimidate. She also advised my therapist to charge me $1,000 for testifying—further demonstrating a disregard for ethical standards. A GAL is supposed to advocate for the best interests of the children, but Ms. Ellsworth’s actions did the exact opposite. Her conduct was harmful, unprofessional, and deeply detrimental to my case and, more importantly, to my children. I strongly caution anyone involved in family court proceedings to seek a more ethical and competent advocate.

Unprofessional GAL for my daughter
She was GAL for my daughter in a divorce case. She was very unprofessional in the way she handled the custody hearing. My ex-husband, daughter, son and myself were interviewed by her. The only testimony that she used in court was that of my ex-husband and daughter, none of my son's or me. She caused me to lose custody of my daughter to a mental abuser. She should never treat again!

Waste of time and money
I did not enjoy my experience with Laura Ellsworth. I did not get the warm, inviting, supportive, non judgmental feeling that you would want in a therapist. She doesn’t seem to have a passion for her work, just there to get paid and it shows. Luckily I was able to find a different therapist and am receiving actual support

Doesn’t take her job seriously. Has preconceived notions, is rude and inappropriate with children. She seems more interested in the pay than doing her job. She should not be working with people.
