Didn’t perform neurological examination
I saw Lauren Carolan in the neurosurgery department at Essentia health and she did not perform a neurological examination before I went for surgery. My friend came with me to the appt and said afterwards that she was concerned for me to have my surgery there. I sure wish I would have heeded her gut feeling. I ultimately got hurt during the surgery as the team was unprepared for the true acuity of my injuries. Part of this was due to the lack of surgical work up at my surgical consultation with Lauren. She certainly wasn’t the only person who didn’t provide quality care but she did play a part.
