Autism assessment
Dr. Megrew was kind and validating throughout our call. It was also quick and easy to set up my appointment, at a lower cost than most other online assessments. I would definitely recommend her.

I know more about her than she knows about me
I had one 2 hour appointment with Dr. Megrew for an autism discussion/assessment. She spent the first 15 minutes talking about herself and family members, how they eat, their problems and more. I finally interrupted her and started talking about myself. The entire interview was like this; I had to interrupt her if I wanted to talk. She spent much more than half of the time talking about her situation. She occasionally responded to me in a way that seemed like she was up on the latest research and was knowledgeable. She did answer a few of my questions. She diagnosed me with Level 1 Autism but I'm not sure if she knows enough about me to make this diagnosis.

Assessment yes therapy no <3
Good (great, even) for getting a good value diagnostic assessment, not good for therapeutic treatment. Only goes so far as what works for her personal autism and as soon as your experience strays too far from hers she is unable to help. She often takes up a large portion of a therapy appointment talking about herself which is validating but not helpful when it fills so much time and you literally can’t interrupt. Has a tendency to drop contact without any explanation. Dropped me as a patient after over a year while I was in crisis, no explanation. Said she would send a list of referrals but then completely ghosted. It is fine to end treatment, life happens and boundaries are necessary. But the way she did it to a suicidal patient was extremely unprofessional, unreasonable, and even reckless, causing such a big blow to a patient’s anxiety and self esteem.

Beyond Grateful
As those who have gone through the process know, the process for adult ASD evaluations is expensive, exhausting, and if you don't look exactly how most people think of autistic people, you will likely be overlooked. I was looking everywhere, but even the 'affordable' options were nearly $2000! I could never afford that! I felt hopeless and even depressed over this. When I found Lauren Megrew, I was apprehensive. $800 felt like a dream compared to other prices, but could it really be true? I did some research and found her qualifications, and saw other people in similar situations on Reddit who were thankful to have found her. I was happy to do it in my own home, too. She did what she could to make sure I was comfortable so that she could see how I moved, spoke, etc. And in the end, I got what I needed that otherwise wouldn't have been obtainable due to financial barriers. Lauren is truly an amazing person providing an amazing service. If you go with her, you are in great hands.
