Maria Horan, CSWR

I was referred to Maria Horgan by my primary care provider. When I told the receptionist that part of what I was looking for was a psych. evaluation and diagnosis (which I’ve never had), she started interrogating me as to why I wanted that. I tried to explain that I wanted to know why I was suffering, but she wouldn’t even let me complete a sentence. She cut in with “we don’t dog drugs here, so if that’s what you’re looking for we can’t help you.” I’ve never been so insulted by someone’s preconceived, bigoted notions in my life. This woman basically called me a junkie for wanting to know what my health issue was. I believe it was the above-mentioned “Cheryl” whom I spoke to but I can’t swear to that. It seems she’s quite the piece of work.

I am really shocked at the reviews I am seeing on here regarding Maria. My daughter loves her, as I do also. My other daughter wants to see her because we love her so much. She has been a huge help to my daughter.

I've had two great experiences with counselors at this practice but Maria herself is an absolute tyrant. Called and harassed me for an insurance issue waiting to be resolved. She used derogatory language when speaking with me. When the issue was resolved she never offered an apology and continued acting unprofessionally. Unfortunately cannot recommend since the whole experience in working with her was a nightmare. Counselors however were fantastic. It's a shame they have to deal with that.

Absolutely terrible !! Would never recommend her.. Unprofessional!! and no knowledge of what would be expected ..! No experience What so ever.. She should not be allowed in the building ..And She certainly should not be allowed to be called a counselor.. She couldn’t Counsel a Worm .. Horrible personality ,insulting , rude made fun of the medication I was on .. She is not a doctor and can’t even write anyone an aspirin .. how can she make fun of medications a person takes That a real doctor prescribed ..no help To say the least .. Waste of money by far! Will not go back .... She made me feel worse then I Did before I came there for help .. Sad they let unfit people like that call themselves a Counsler to help people that pay Cash for poor and unprofessional service and to be insulted.. Can leave 0 stars or I would ..

I showed up for my appointment and a half hour later the staff finally showed up. When I asked why they scheduled me before they opened, they told me I was mistaken but it was written on a card. After that I saw Stephanie in Maria's office and she was very inconsiderate. I told her I have certain auditory triggers & she started doing them constantly whenever we met. I would start crying & she would continue. Also, the receptionists were always irritable and snippy.

Called to schedule an appointment for a returning client after 5 years with extreme depression. Was told there would be a 6 week wait for an appointment after stressing the urgency. The secretary, Cheryl, was snippy and rude. She told me to call mobile crisis if it couldn't wait 6 weeks. After a wonderful experience 5 years ago, ( We had been going there for at least 4 years) I was heartbroken and disgusted to think a place that had been such a source of recovery for my family was now so bitter.

We were able to schedule counseling for our child and once established, we found the staff and especially our childs counselor to be very accomodating. Especially helpful in a time of crisis.

Called here and they were able to see me an hour after u made the appointment, I didn't even get to Finnish the paper work by the time I was called in to the room
