Dr. Mariah Gomez-Falcon, PHD

I am currently seeing Dr. Gomez-Falcon. I recently Googled her and saw the one and two star reviews. I'm sad that some people had a negative experience, but I can't relate to those reviews. It sounds like disgruntled clients who either didnt pay attention in the first session (about policies) or had a unique experience that emphasized that they weren't a match. However, I can attest that she is empathetic, professional, and experienced. She has strong boundaries (which actually taught me to uphold my own policies in my own job) but is kind. I couldn't recommend her enough!

I was very impressed with her office policies. I was a little nervous at first, but she put me at ease quickly. The first session is partly paperwork and then dealing with issues. There are no surprises, she is forthcoming. I understand now how her disciplinary contract agreement with me is a part of the therapeutic process. It leaves no room for disputes. She just wants to focus on therapy. These policies are clearly outlined and read to me by the doctor. After I agreed, initialed each of the policies and signed, we began therapy and then she scheduled me to another meeting.I like that she uses a wide set of tools and that she makes you work. She’s not gonna pry your problems or issues out you. She wants you to come prepared. I also like the fact that she’s very eclectic and spiritual in her approach. There is no lack of compassion in her. She doesn’t make decisions for me, but guides me to the right path through constant work and reflection. I think she’s a great fit.

Been seeing her for years & will continue to. You just need to find your right fit, and it seems like others didn't mesh well with her. Never felt pressured or judged.

I felt judged by her in every session. $20 fee if you cancel even if it’s ahead of time.

A terrible fit for me as a therapist. Her advice was the exact opposite of what I needed and actually made my condition worsen until I finally sought specialized help. Made dangerous suggestions that were untrue of my abuse story, which somebody in a more delicate mindset than me might have believed and made their trauma and distrust worse. It feels like she cares about money more than you, it's her policy to still charge you for an appointment even if you tell her way in advance that you will not be in town/available that day. I've never had another therapist be that stingy about planned absences. Due to all of the above and more that I won't disclose for privacy reasons, I cannot recommend her as a therapist.
