Patients deserve empathy, compassion and results
In 2016, at my sickest and most vulnerable, I was under the care of Matthew Stark, then working alongside Dr. Lawrence Choat. My experience? Dismissiveness, arrogance, and reckless medical advice. After a hospital visit for severe complications, I followed up with Stark, expecting proper testing and real medical guidance. Instead, he downplayed blood clots, casually telling me he had pulled foot-long clots out of people—as if that meant I shouldn’t be concerned. When I asked, “And what was their quality of life after that?” he had no real answer. Because the reality is, most people don’t have a quality life after such an event. He knew I was a single father, fighting for my health, that I had already been mismanaged by previous doctor, yet offered no real solutions, no deeper investigations, just dismissiveness and poor medical judgment. Now, years later, I see he has moved on to Evergreen Family Medicine—which, given my experience, speaks volumes.Where is the humanity?

Good Primary Care Physician
I'm glad to have signed up with Matt Stark as my primary care physician. He listened to my issue, was very preceptive, did some tests on me and prescribed a game-plan option that has worked out well. He has good instincts. Since then, my wife has transferred to Matt for her Primary Care.

I have been a patient of Matthew stark for so many years I’ve lost track! He has been absolutely wonderful! You won’t find a kinder heart and he goes out of his way to do everything he can to help when you’re ill. He recently started seeing my husband who was battling stage 4 cancer and needed a lot of care and monitoring during his horrific battle with this. Matt took so much time and care into helping him! He genuinely cares about his patients and it shows in all he does! I highly recommend anyone! When my husband finally lost his battle with cancer Matt stark was out of the office for awhile but he made sure that his nurse called to see if I was ok. He truly cares and does a wonderful job at what he does! Thank you Matt and all staff!

Matthew Stark was very attentive and talked to me about all the medicine I take or have taken and inquired if I was satisfied with the amount of the prescription (30 day vs 90 day) and seemed to be very interested in my total medical care. I was very impressed with his friendly nature and professionalism.

Dr. STARK has always been very professional and taken the time to listen to my concerns and works with me to find the best remedy that works for me. Never one to push meds, which I really appreciate. He has a great bed side manor.

I recently saw Matt Stark for debilitating back pain. I could not walk without pain; I took pain medications constantly. Matt reviewed thoroughly all my medical history and did some testing. His impression of the cause of my pain was different than other doctors I had visited based on his discovered findings. He referred me to Dr. Gregory Phillips at NeuroSpine in Eugene. Both professionals have changed my life! I am pain free. I do not take pain medications. I can dance again. Thank you Matt!

I went there for a check up he was very friendly and not pressing any matters I didn't want to address just advised me in his opinion and what I should do . Found my blood pressure was kinda high and unlike most doctors he put me on a dash diet and wanted me to come back in two months to check it again instead of just putting me on meds . He dose not like using pills if he doesn't have to which is awesome . Very great guy in my opinion

I would never recommend him. I suffer from debiltating and crippling anxiety that is so severe I almost never leave the house. Its become so severe that I feel my life is poibtless. When I was on meds for my anxiety I became a whole new person and no longer has panic attacks and could leave my house. I want help so badly that I made the terrifying desicion to make a doctors appointment. I told him what I was going through and what meds previously worked. His solution: deep breathing and no meds!

Not a good experience. He rushes through the visit, dismisses complaints and is obviously doesn't understand the importance of patient /Doctor relationships. I will not go back or ever recommend him to anyone!
