I was seen by her for stepping on a screw that punctured through my tennis shoe and into my foot. She asked me why I didn’t take my shoe off and at first I thought she was joking because my shoe was clearly held in place to my foot by the screw inside the bottom of my foot. But then, without warning me of what she was about to do, she tried to yank my shoe off with the screw still in my foot. She then scolded me for the scream that escaped me from the unexpected excruciating pain and told me “there’s no need to act like that.” She then had all the available nurses come to my room to restrain me while they finally had someone just yank the screw out with pliers. I didn’t make a peep or move a muscle, I was just shaking from the pain and fear from the restraint. It was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever experienced at the hands of a physician and she made me feel like I was crazy. It should have been a simple procedure but instead she caused unnecessary pain due to her incompetence.
