Melissa Szocik

I've been seeing Melissa for the past several years as my Primary Care. She's always been helpful, respectful, knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions! She is very professional and easy to talk to, so an easy 5 star rating for me.

I've always had a great experience with Melissa. I was her patient years ago before her sabbatical, and again now that she is back. I recently had a stroke, completely out-of-the-blue, and Melissa has been very caring all during my experience. She takes the time to really talk to me about what's going on with my health and I feel like heard. Her advice helped me get through a very tough time.

I'm pretty sure I got Covid at the beginning of the pandemic. I tried to get tested but Dr. Szocik thought I'd want to go out partying if I found out I had Covid so she denied me. Then I'm pretty sure I got long Covid, but I can't get treatment for it because I never got a positive test. She really shook my trust in the health care system.

I was filling out a Kaiser survey and Googled Melissa's name, because I couldn't remember exactly how to spell it—and I was shocked to see any bad reviews for her! So I felt compelled to leave a review with my experience. I've been happy with Kaiser overall for the last ~15 years, for both myself and my now teenage son, and our PCPs have been a big part of that, we both feel lucky to have found them (my son sees Dr. Gaaserud at Cap Hillm and I've seen Melissa Scozik for about 5-10). I feel really confident about the care I get from Melissa—she's just frank and funny and knowledgeable, I know she'll be able to answer any question I have, and she'll bring up things that I should be thinking about, too. Her whole manner and attitude is exactly what I want from a PCP, perfect for anyone who's thoughtful about their care and wants to learn their options.

Melissa has been my primary care physician for many years, and through the transition from Group Health to Kaiser. She is knowledgeable, professional, warm, and engaging. Her bedside manner and ability to relate exemplary. Having worked in health care myself, all these characteristics are vital to me. If there is ever a question of wanting or needing to seek other opinions or get a specialty referral, she is very willing to do just that. There is no personal agenda for her besides meeting me at my level and doing everything possible to insure my medical concerns are met and fully treated.

Several years ago I started going to Melissa because the doctor she was working with had zero bedside manner with me. So when that doctor left I was given a choice to move with that doctor, or stay with Melissa who is warm, personable, knowledgeable, and honest and transparent. Ultimately I trust her care of me because she always makes me feel valued and safe!

She's a horrific doctor. My family member died because of Melissa. She was so stuck up and refused to listen to us and hear us out. As a result, she did not provide the treatment and by the time we went to a new doctor, it was too late to get the treatment and my family member died.

Having had excellent health care over the past 30 years from nearly all of my prior doctors at GHC and KP, I was shocked at write up for my visit. Clearly, she did not listen and made several gross assumptions based on what she thought she heard. Very disappointed. Will not see again.

This woman does not listen to her patients and assumes she's always right about everything . Very unprofessional demeanor and this includes office visit and web contact through group health . I would not risk my life with this person for anything ! Absolutely horrible !
