I wanted to like Dr. Girouard, he has a wide knowledge of how we are affected by society socially and mentally. However, when I started expressing my issues at home and at work that affect or were affected by my mental illness, I didn’t feel like I was being listened to. Suggestions were made about how I could throw money at my problems, and in a way I could only interpret as condescending. He felt I could clearly afford those suggested items based on judgements about my appearance. That struck me as very ignorant. I haven’t been back since.
