I have a diagnosed blood clotting disorder and went to NP Deron with shortness of breath and chest pain. She did bloodwork on me and sent me home with elevated d-dimer levels (which can be an indicator of a blood clot). I went back the next day feeling more out of breath with the same pain. She took more blood and sent me home. She called later to let me know my d-dimer levels went up slightly, but she wasn’t worried and the people in CT were almost done for the night, so we would wait to schedule a CT. I told her I was afraid and that I was going to the ER. She told me that it would be really busy and that they wouldn’t appreciate her sending me to get a CT. I told her that I would still like to go. I got to the ER and she had never called ahead to let them know I was coming. They took one look at me and immediately had 2 different doctors by my side, I was sent right in for a CT, and I was admitted with a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in my lung). This could have caused my death.
