Dr. Paola Conte, PHD

Awhile back I saw Dr. Conte when I was struggling with seemingly "random" symptoms at the time. The wait time was forever.. regardless, my MD referred me to see her for eval because he thought the symptoms were bizarre and couldn't figure it out. Dr. Conte decided my giddy demeanor during appts was me actually happy (jokes on her I was also diagnosed with Autism disorder, she missed that by a mile) Dr. Contesaid I had somatoform disorder which halted any medical progress. She did teach helpful pain coping techniques. But it doesn't take away from the fact that it took 3 more years to find out that I needed 3 reconstructive spinal surgery, a decompression brain surgery as well as hosts of other things. I had to switch hospitals for anyone to take me seriously after being labeled as a somatoform disorder patient AS AN EARLY TEEN. After all of that, I was then finally given "a label" which will forever haunt me that I never got treatment appropriately when my issues started.
