As a new mom I wish I had listened to my gut and not went with her as my provider. She was inattentive, dismissive, and she preformed a membrane sweep without my permission. I have a healthy baby now so there is that but the birth experience of my first I will never get back I will get back. I regret having her as my OBGYN.

I wish that I had been brave enough to leave Pat’s care when I was expecting my last baby. Throughout my pregnancy I felt that I was was receiving mediocre care. Appointments were rushed- actually, it seemed like she was always rushing. She’d show up to an appointment explaining, “ I have a patient at the hospital who is 9 centimeters dilated so I’m going to have to cut out appointment short.” at least twice. She was 5 minutes late during my sons birth.. a nurse had to deliver him- I can imagine it was because I was her last priority. She made a showcase out of my placenta removal without realizing that it was incomplete. I was horrified to find out later that it wasn’t when I passed the remainder at home. Her answers to questions were always followed up with snarky responses. When I thought my water broke she scolded me explaining that my baby could’ve died because I didn’t “act quick enough”. Being under that women’s care was just plain awful.

On my first appointment, the first thing she did was harrass me about my weight. She is not friendly at all. Will be going to someone else.

There were several red flags. On my first appt., while my husband and I waited for an ultrasound, our charts somehow became misplaced and we waited an hour and a half while watching people go back who had gotten there after us. Also, the doctor made reference to my age in a way that was snarky and disrespectful. Later I called the office to see if a certain medication was safe to take while pregnant. She never called back, and neither did her nurse. I called and got the doctor after hours and she told me to go to urgent care. I called my PCP and she told me it was okay to take. At my next appt with the doctor she told me she knew that I could take it which really threw me. Also at this appt, she was very sarcastic, rude, snippy, and is so quick to respond without fully listening. Being that I am an African American women, this was very off-putting to say the least!! However, when someone else entered the room, she became very friendly and professional. I am truly glad I left!!!!!

I also felt as though Patricia was dismissive of questions. The only thing I felt like she seemed to care about was my weight. I am 5’4” and was about 137 lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I lifted weights regularly and maintain a cleaner diet than most people I feel. I explained this to her after only my second apt when she told me to “watch my weight gain” at only 15 weeks along. I know my body and how easily my weight fluctuates normally. I would expect a medical professional to also know the many factors that come in to play when it comes to “weight gain” or the appearance of it. At my roughly 20 week apt she made another comment to “watch my weight” I had gained about 20 lbs total. She was very rude and defensive when I told her that these comments every time were making me anxious because I am a fit and healthy person. I switched OB’s around the 25 week mark I believe. I am 38 weeks and have gained 35# and am much happier. I wouldn’t recommend Pat for a new mom.

I was personally unimpressed with Mrs. Collier. There was no comprehensive interaction with this practitioner. When I encountered unusual symptoms and challenges Mrs. Collier was content to dismiss those symptoms without critical details or insightful questions. As a patient I want to know my midwife and physician is engaged, detail oriented and cares. Maybe Mrs. Collier is different with other patients... I don't know but I switched practitioners at 32 weeks pregnant. It was disappointing.
