He wrote a book, so that is the approach he takes, regardless if the patient needs more than what he offers. He doesn't really listen to what the issues are. He asks questions about life growing up etc., but gives no coping skills or advice on how to move past childhood trauma. As a matter of fact, he cares so little for his patients, some confusion or miscommunication occurred, causing a missed appointment. He was more concerned about having sent a reminder email than trying to rectify the situation. He never reached out again after that day. It has been 3 months. It took a long time for my husband to decide to go to therapy and this counselor ruined that for him.

I joined a couple sessions with my mother and was extremely skeptical of him after the first session, but I wasn't bothered until the second session. His perspective is incredibly heteronormative and has an extreme generational bias. His approach to my trauma included telling me I should heal on a timeline because 'family is love.' I felt gaslit by a therapist and ultimately had to seek out help elsewhere because of how distraught this session left me. I am not religious, so it's my own fault for not realizing where he would go, but I am still utterly disturbed that a professional would try and minimize my pain because it was 'from family.'
