One of Dr. Hamlin's specialties, according to her mentor, is OCD which many psychiatrists have diagnosed me with over the past 25 years. It is hard to find a psychologist who specializes in OCD so I was very happy when I found her. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to know much about it. She seems to practice a relatively new therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and was insistent that I only read and listen to information from one psychologist who writes on the subject. When I found and watched videos from another psychologist I found on-line that were helpful, she told me she only wanted me to read information from her specific psychologist. I found that to be strange. She also talks about herself a lot and when I brought up different subjects she would talk about an incident that happened to her. I found that I knew as much about her as she did me. After a few months I found another psychologist who is much more helpful to me.

She isn't qualified in the area that best suited my needs. I needed someone who has experience in dealing with victims of nPD abuse. She is not that person. Instead, she wanted to diagnose me and put me on meds. I wasn't seeking a formal diagnosis; I needed a clear understanding about certain events in my life and how they affected me as an adult. A different therapist helped me put everything into perspective. Always screen therapists. They all have different approaches.
