Dr. Ricardo Camarillo, PHD

Dr. Camarillo is a trustworthy and gifted therapist who is not afraid to take on difficult clients (like myself) with chronic psychological problems. I initially saw Dr. Camarillo with my wife and then by myself when it became apparent that I needed one-on-one counseling vs couples therapy. Not many clinicians can handle patients with personality disorders, but Dr. Camarillo has the skills and tenacity to help those who suffer with complicated emotional dysregulation. It has been a long slog getting to the bottom of my disordered personality and dysregulated emotional state but worth every moment of therapy. My guess is the one star ratings posted here likely come from his former clients that could not be honest with themselves and gave up on the process.

He is horrible and judgemental do NOT use him!

I’ve been working with Dr. Camarillo for almost two years related to my anxiety issues. He listens and compassionately works through my worries along with me. I recommend anybody suffering through anxiety issues to see a therapist and if you are able to see Dr. Camarillo, you are in good hands.

The best. Saved my sanity and my marriage with his skillful and honest therapy. Dr. Camarillo will tell you the truth even if it hurts. He is big into personal responsibility yet in the kindest way. He will not give up on you even when it gets tough or if you sabotage your own progress. I spent many weeks and months with Dr. C. resolving past hurts yet learning that I had tossed aside control of my life by blaming others. My sadness, self-destruction and anxiety turned to hope then to results.

Be careful with this doctor especially his marriage counseling. If you present any objective view contrary to his he will make it personal and will work against you. May even suggest to your spouse (when your not there or by phone) to separate from you. Appears like he has to one up the patient if their is a contrary view . Often analogizes issues in his marriage. Which can be helpful to some degree however is a constant approach.
