Ended our Relationship Re-Traumatized and Broke
I first began seeing Rivkah in early 2024 after reading books on EMDR and IFS therapy and seeking a provider. Everything was going very well and I felt that the EMDR itself was working. I found Rivkah to be a warm and genteel presence. However, our last session where I attempted to provide constructive feedback could not have gone more off the rails.I felt pressured to go against my judgement and make choices based on her advice which for the record, a therapist should not be telling a client (esp one with CPTSD) what to do. I expressed to her that I felt her advice was inaccurate and had caused me harm. I was not apologized to and when I took too long to explain how I was feeling she snapped at me and told me to just get on with it. She gave me a non apology and insisted I would be worse off without her. It was financially expensive to take on and when I explained that, she told me she took insurance after almost 9 months of out of pocket money in her wallet. Do not recommend.

Helped me overcome a lot of trauma
Rivkah helped me understand more of my life and the trauma around it. Before it would constantly be on my mind, but she has helped me move forward tremendously through EMDR. It also helped with my relationships with friends, family, and coworkers, without letting my past affect me as often as before. I would recommend her to anyone I know who needs any therapy for trauma.

Bad Experience
She made me feel rejected a minute into the first session and said she didn't want to work with me and confused as to why I even scheduled an appt, and then proceeded to ask me questions expecting me to feel comfortable talking to her after that intro. I have to make sure she doesn’t keep charging my insurance or something because this was a very strange experience. Not much of a counsellor/ therapy to me.

Despite going through financial hardship Rivkah charge me regular expensive price for weekly sessions. I have a father with problems, and I had issues with my relative in the past Rivkah tried to make my relationship with my relative worse. Rivkah is very insensitive. She’s all in it for the money.

Before I visited Rivkah, I was at a low point in my life…I can honestly say that she has helped me understand myself, she has helped me solve my own issues, and she continues to help me pursue my vision of an ideal self. The thoughtful and eye-opening conversations I shared with Rivkah are invaluable as I continue on my journey through life. I am privileged to have someone like Rivkah as my therapist.” — Dan T

I began speaking with Rivkah while I was going though a particularly difficult time. Not only was she supportive and helpful in navigating my immediate concerns but she also drew connections to my past which helped me see things in a more holistic view. I find that she goes beyond the surface of what I'm talking about, identifying patterns and finding connections that I would not have been able to reach on my own. After only a few months of weekly sessions, Rivkah has helped me work through, address, and more fully understand issues that have been unresolved for years. Highly recommend!

I was going through a bad period while working with her, but I was making it one day at a time. I think she got frustrated with me. She went from supportive and gentle to mean fast. I’ve never had a relationship with a therapist (or any healthcare provider, not even the dentist) that has ended so suddenly and disastrously. She used judgy and insulting language to me about my mental illness (called me an “open wound” when I was crying for ex), denied entire conversations (whether she genuinely forgot or was gaslighting me, I’m not sure, but that was re-traumatizing), and she victim-blamed me for being assaulted. She kept emphasizing to me how sick and messed up I am and for the first time in my life, I began to ideate about self-harm. I thought I really liked her and was leaning into the support she offered, but I came away from this experience feeling more unstable and stigmatized. I’m very afraid of therapists now and my ability to trust new therapists has been destroyed.

This lady deserves such an acknowledgment & recognition for her work with people, that's why I feel obligated to talk about my experience with her... Let me start by saying that if there is a therapist in NY area that deserves a 5 star review, this is definitely Mrs. Kaufman. She saved my life twice so far. The first time about 5 years ago when she helped me recover from a severely violent and abusive husband and for the 2nd time during these last few months, while she is helping me get over a very nasty case of sexual harassment by my ex-employer & a very difficult law case. All these scarred my personal & professional life, my health and shook up my trust in men, up to the point of bad depression. Her help was and IS crucial for me in order to find my lost balance & start to trust people again. Rivkah helps me keep my guard up against predators & abusers by being able to finally see the "red flags". She is an incredible therapist & an incredible human being. A pure inspiration!

Instead of helping me and empowering me to make my own decisions in life, she told me what to do which was a waste of time as it fostered dependence on her which is not what therapy is all about. She then told me about meditation which I already knew about so that was a waste of time as well. She did not respect me when I asked her to stop telling me what to do nor did she help me overcome trauma which is the reason I saw her in the first place so I had to find someone else to help me with it.
