"Rob" was very dismissive about my back pain that I have had for years. He based his opinion on two x-rays, on which two radiologists confirmed that I have arthritis in my spine. He seemed to be grasping at straws. He did not help in any way. Save your time and money and see a real doctor.

I was there for a check up on my back He was so kind and patient. I didn't feel rushed at all He spoke clearly and calmly.

Worst experience I have ever had. Incredibly rude. Didn’t listen. Wrote up a rude, inaccurate, and misleading report in my file. I have never complained about a doctor before, as I understand it’a not an easy job but this man had the worst bedside manor I have ever seen . I am fairly young and have spent far to many years in pain and discomfort chasing an accurate diagnosis/treatment. I expressed my frustrations and instead of showing understanding he accused me of being nervous and anxious and showed impatience.

Excellent experience with Dr. Hemond. This is a great example to where it's important that you heed the opinions of others on healthgrades when it comes to choosing a physician. I was reticent to take the appointment after reading many reviews but the fact of the matter is, he's a straight shooter, very knowledgeable and very succinct. If you go in to the appointment expecting to be coddled, you've picked the wrong doctor. If you are expecting honesty, straightforwardness and excellent education, you've got the right guy here.

I am confused by all the other reviews. I had my first meeting with Dr Hemond and found him to be extremely thorough, professional, and compassionate. He took the time to answer all my questions, but after his walk-through of my MRI, I did not have many. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family.

Not sure what these people are talking about because I found him to be a great guy. Helped me!

I met with him yesterday after suffering from sciatica for six months. I found him very competent. He thoroughly explained my MRI to myself and also included my husband. Conducted an exam from head to toe, as well as having me perform a number of movements for him to assess. A plan for recovery was put into place and we left feeling very satisfied with the visit.

I was there a couple of years ago. Pretty much everything I read here is correct. Rude, condescending, offered one option, even spoke of injecting “whatever” into my spine, and said surgery would become available only if I could no longer work, and we’d lose our house. He then a letter to my physician after that visit “stating” that there was a surgeon available at all times for us to consult. ??? He acted like a gate keeper, as if he was the doctor in charge. Never really identified himself as a PA. Never mentioned any surgeon. He was not only rude, but took any question asked as an affront and became somewhat aggressive all on his own. During that last visit the x rays he had up in the screen we’re not mine. My back is getting worse. I have a need to go see a surgeon and I see that Robert Hemond is still in your employ. How can this be? I see plenty of similar complaints. Something that a simple investigation would bare.

He was not nice, talked down to me, would not recommend him to anyone. Efo through the roof, acted like you were wasting his time. This is the third time I have had to tone down what I would like to say in order for them to publish this. Do not see this guy. I plan to speak to the hospital coordinator about him.

Was not a good experience. I would not recommend this guy to anybody. Zero compassion. I was Hesitant to ask questions . Felt belittled.

Very positive experience. Good overall bedside manner. Spent as much time as needed to go over options and made sure I was comfortable with choice moving forward. Would recommend.

I attended two visits with Robert Hammond,one after my surgical procedure. During each visit he was attentive and kind, clearly explaining my x-rays, medical reports, the and the physical physical exam he completed. He answered all my questions thoroughly and helped me develop a plan of care that reflected my wants and needs.

Rather condescending, felt shamed for asking questions, seemed like we were wasting his time. He responded sarcastically to any questions about surgery and surgeons.

If this person is an example of the future of health care, we are doomed. He does not even bother to take any time to discuss options. It's steroids (oral, then shot). That's the only answer they have. It is NOT the only and best option for everyone. I am done with the spine institute...

Extremely RUDE. Didn't really seem to care that I was in pain but more that he is the "Spine Expert". Wanted to know how I supported my husband an I if I was out of work, if I wanted disability, how I supported myself and husband and if I wanted surgery. He a flat out JERK, I won't say what I really think of him. Please tell your doctor's, friends and family to not be seen by him. He's actually worse than my mother in law!

Did not provide or suggest a plan to help heal my injury, only suggestion was a steroid shot
