Insensitive, Rude, and Lack of Empathy
Telehealth
My visit with this provider was terrible: a waste of time and money. He was late to the visit and left early, though the office charged me for a full visit. He did not have any interest in listening to my complaints and interrupted me to offer unsolicited non-psychiatric life advice. He didn't want to discuss psychiatric medications, despite the fact that I was already taking these and specifically meeting for medication management. His tone was dismissive, exasperated, and demeaning, and his only comments were personal attacks. I felt worse after this visit than before and would not recommend this provider under any circumstances; I can't imagine how he is able to hold a license.

If you are hurting emotionally, don’t go to him
I can’t think of anything good to say. This man needs to be in another industry since he so clearly dislikes human beings. It take a lot to seek help; I beg you, if you are sensitive like me and exhausted from the mental anguish, find a provider who cares. This one does not.

I could write a novel. Ignored my eating disorder, told me not to bother with therapy and kept pushing hypnotherapy, prescribed me controlled stimulants and then told me he wouldn’t diagnose me with anything more severe than a focus problem. In fact, prescribed controlled stimulant with appetite suppressing as a main side effect, and then congratulated me for losing weight. Condescending, gaslighting, dismissive, I’ve never met a doctor who straight up brushes away problems, symptoms, and concerns. Appointments under 10 minutes, every time, with little more than a ‘I’ll renew your prescription’. Office staff is lovely and accommodating, but Kopec is little more than a pill pusher. If you want meds instead of someone who cares, this is the place.

As others have stated "Dr." Kopec deserves ZERO stars. Red Flags I wish I hadn't ignored: 1) Don't ignore the reviews. The bad reviews are 100% accurate. I ignored them because I was desperate for help and I absolutely regret it. 2) Kopec is an anti-vaxxer. I had an in-office visit in Jan 2021 and asked if I should get the covid vaccine. Kopec stated that he wasn't going to get vaccinated because he didn't believe that the studies were conclusive. 3) My med review lasted exactly 7 minutes where Kopec literally shamed me for asking for anti-depressants. I have a history of depression and have taken meds for 15+ years. Kopec told me I wasn't sad enough for medication and told me I didn't like working since I took the day off to try to get help. He then handed me a 30 day mood tracking journal so that I could prove I needed meds. While I was scheduling a follow-up appt, Kopec said I didn't need to make one and sarcastically added that I should remember to call and cancel it.

Tele-medicine was not working. Most Dr.'s are months out for an appointment. Kopec was the ONLY ARNP willing to see my daughter immediately, face to face (fully masked and distanced) at his office. His office staff is wonderful. He took the time to ask many questions, make eye contact, watch body language, fully listen, diagnose, consult, and follow-up. Kopec has the experience, knowledge, and work ethic to find what is wrong and work hard to find the best medications and solutions. He is also willing to change based on new evidence. We are very pleased and highly recommend him.

along with everyone else who has commented i'll absolutely say he's rude to say the least. I'm from the East coast, I'm absolutely used to strong personalities and blunt - tell it how it is people. But if you're dealing with mental illness you're already struggling , its hard to advocate for yourself when you're not in your right mental state. To say he was dismissive is being kind. He's not only dismissive , he's rude , outright arrogant instead of listening he projects. Highly highly advise against going to him for help. you'll only leave more frustrated.

So, I get why some people don't like Kopec's bedside manner, but being from the east coast, I'm kinda used to people who are more straightforward. I guess his manner doesn't bother me. But I get it. Anyway, I think he listens to me, but I've had to spend a decade learning how to advocate for myself. So maybe I just push back a little more to make sure he hears me. That being said, if you have mental issues (me too) then that can be challenging. So don't feel bad at all if you need to love on. But, in my opinion, he's been good for me and my needs.

I never leave feedback about anything but Dr. Kopec is literal trash. He's rude and he's arrogant. I understand he went through extensive amounts of studies to be where he's at but he's not qualified for the job he has. He disregarded everything I said and then made me define each medication I was on as if I had the description of the 5 medications I took. I gave him general reasons for usage and he was rude because I didn't have the knowledge on all of them like he did. He's trash and I tried to go to another psychiatry office a few months later and I ENDED UP WITH HIM AGAIN. Do not go to Dr. Kopec.

I'm only giving one star because zero isn't an option. The first couple appointments with him were OK. He has a horrible bedside manner but I thought we could get past that. The third time we went, he asked my daughter how the meds were working. She said she didn't think they were doing much good and he blew up. Seemed to take that personally. He started yelling and slamming his hand on the desk. Told my daughter that her symptoms weren't as bad as she thought because she was able to pull herself together enough to come to the appointment. He told her all she has to do is "be happy" and things will be fine. Stay far far away from this guy!!

First, prepare yourself for the 22-page questionnaire. Second, expect that Dr. Kopec will diagnose you based on that questionnaire. I hadn't been sitting in his chair for 10 minutes when he informed me I am bipolar -- and my father and daughter are bipolar as well (despite never having met either). 10 minutes! I have been diagnosed with clinical depression and have seen many mental health practitioners over the years - NONE of which have identified me as bipolar. He also handed me samples of a medication which I researched online and discovered is a method of treating schizophrenia. Finally, and most importantly, his manner is very condescending and belittling. I went to him for help but left his office in tears -- feeling far worse than when I walked in the door. You've been warned.

Dr. Kopec charged me $195 the first office visit. As soon as we met he asked if I used cannabis. I said I had in the past and then he refused to discuss my medical concerns because of it. He said he knew I had severe anxiety just by looking at me and didn't need to do tests. I begged him to reconsider and he kicked me out of his office and refused to refund my money. He insisted he was doing me a favor. Terrible human being who should not be allowed to practice medicine.

As soon as Dr. Kopec found out I occasionally use cannabis he began to lecture me on how cannabis was hurting me and I need to stop using it. He never once discussed my past medical history nor tried to get to the root of my problem. His first action, 5 minutes into our appointment was to prescribe drugs. He's a hack with no compassion for his patients. After refusing me treatment for my anxiety because of past cannabis use, he told me that "years from now I'll look back and thank him".

Dr. Kopec is an excellent clinician. I've been seeing him for about 18 months and he listens and truly cares about you, wants to see you get well and back to functioning normally. He tries different meds and combinations to find what works best for you, also different dosages. I've seen two other psychiatrists who gave up on me, but Dr. Kopec did not. He answered emails usually on the same day if I had issues. Thank you for helping me get by life back again!

Dr. Kopec is a fraud. He only knows of a few psychiatric medication that he suggests for everyone routinely and believes that they’ll work for everyone. You can complain of a side effect and if it’s not listed on google as a common side effect you’re a liar to him. I was put on his good standard medications and never saw or heard from him again. Every time I made an appointment to see him I was directed to his pharmacist who’s an even bigger fraud than he is. Doctorates don’t equal MD’s.

Arrogant and believes in his anecdotal experience above data. Dr Kopec told me that he can usually improve patients condition while they’re on cannabis but not completely and therefore refuses to treat ANYONE that uses cannabis at all. He conceded that there was zero evidence of cannabis affecting my illness or interacting with my meds, agreed that the meds had drastically improved my situation and STILL refused to continue treatment.

Although he is not a Psychiatrist, he practices a very good balance of mental health care. This balance being a solid understanding and use of medications with an ability to genuinely care. In this day of fragmented health care systems and limitations on treatment time, he does very well.

Robert Kopec is very arrogant and condescending. He doesn't listen to my concerns about my treatment plan. He increased the dosage of one of my medications, I reported negative side effects I was experiencing to him immediately. Robert told me that there is NO WAY that the meds HE prescribed would ever make me feel that way. I also have run out of my medications waiting for him to call my Pharmacy for refills. I had to call several times daily till it was it was filled.

Arrogant, patronizing. Doesn't return phone calls. You have to leave several messages to process a prescription. I have explained concerns with meds and he will act like something is wrong with me not the meds. Office manager is pleasant. Am going to see a new provider.
