Roshawna Stokes, LPC

I am sad to write this review but feel it is important to warn others that may work with Ms. Stokes. We worked with her for 2 years and she built a real connection with my preteen son. Out of nowhere, she no showed for an appointment. When I spoke with her, she then told me she was on leave for 6 weeks and stated another person was supposed to be assigned to my son and should have reached out to me. This is unacceptable, as we were not informed about this, and my son did not feel comfortable with someone else! I then found out she had lied about this, and she had never actually sent my son's name to another therapist. For a child that has trauma stemming from abandonment, this abrupt loss was devastating. My son has now been 3 months with no services because of Ms. Stokes negligence. We are on waitlists and cannot get in with any provider anytime soon. This was not just poor service, this was damaging.

Ro is the definition of patient. She is understanding and not only supports my child, she also supports me. She is easily accessible...once you are able to establish the initial appointment.

No professionalism. My soon to be step daughter wrote a suicide letter and we emailed it to her. Roshawna had an appointment with her the next day and said she would do a safety assessment. After the appointment it was days before we heard back from her even reaching out to her. As parents; we were very concerned and just wanted to know she was safe and okay from a mental standpoint. When she finally responded we were told there should be 72 hours for a response time and had agreed Roshawna would cut their appointments short to update us. Her next appointment; no contact was made. The appointment after that was to be a family appointment which we needed to reschedule and we messaged her in regards to that prior to. Since then we have not been able to reach her. It’s been a couple weeks now. My step daughter tried to text her and got no response. She always told her if she needed her to text or call any time. Definitely unprofessional and obviously isn’t serious about her career.

Ro as she like to be called was very patient and very knowledgeable. She was also available by phone whenever necessary.
