Ryan Christiansen, LCSW

Ryan is knowledgeable, compassionate and creates an environment conducive to healing and growth for the client. He has been a great resource during my trauma recovery. He is responsive. Scheduling appointments is easy and streamlined. His office is clean and inviting. I would and do recommend him to anyone seeking real change and help.

Pros - Emdr, Parts work, etc Cons - Mostly quiet during sessions, doesn’t model supportive/healthy emotions when traumatic stories are shared besides mostly blank expressions. Unprofessional I was scapegoated out of my abusive/narcissistic family, and after I cut off contact, I felt very traumatized and believed I was crazy. In the beginning Ryan asked questions to see if he knew my family personally. It turns out he did have a connection to one of my relatives. I told him why I cut off contact from this relative whom I had proof that they were abusive towards loved ones, then past. He took their side and defended their behavior. It made me feel crazy. I continued to see him for a year after that and i had trouble feeling believed by him or that I could trust him when I shared any more stories about my abusive family. If you go see him, don’t let him know who your family is or who your abusers are.

Provides productive feedback, insight, & guidance. Direct & firm while being warm & friendly and without coming off as patronizing. Very grateful for the growth he has been able to facilitate.

Ryan has helped me greatly in finding self compassion and understanding how trauma and severe stress affect my physical health. He is patient and supportive. Ryan uses different methods of how to get in touch with feelings instead of numbing out, and to work through powerful emotions. He is very good at his profession!

Ryan uses various therapeutic techniques including EMDR to work through my trauma. I’ve been through years of therapy and have experienced a greater benefit in the past few months of therapy with Ryan then the past years of experience with other therapists. He explains what he Is doing and helps me better understand what I’m experiencing. He is very intelligent and versed in different technique skills to help me heal the best I can.
