Sahar Akhtar, LPC

Based on my experiences and feedback from other providers, Sahar does not have appropriate skills, experience, or strong professional boundaries required to treat individuals with unresolved childhood trauma. She was not effective in creating a safe place. She seemed threatened when I asked questions about her processes or techniques. If I was triggered during a session, which is actually a great therapeutic opportunity, she told me that therapy won’t work if I don’t trust her. She also was not able to work effectively with my other providers. I was willing to trust the process and work with her as a “good enough” therapist (to reference Pete Walker’s book). However she ended the therapeutic relationship by sending me an email, which is professionally inappropriate and did not allow for appropriate continuity of care. The best thing I got from her was accountability to maintain a meditation practice, which was helpful. The therapy, however, was not.
