Dr. Sandra Rugama, OD

Very difficult to deal with post in-office appointment. She and her administrative staff are dishonest and evasive with post appointment prescription issues that arise. Patients are 100% dependent on the provider communicating with the insurance company for tier 3 and non-formulary drugs. This optometrist prescribes tier 3 and non formulary drugs for chronic conditions that cost over $600 a month and then refuses to engage with insurance companies with which she is contracted to facilitate coverage of the drugs for her patients. Provider leaves patients with acute symptoms flapping in the breeze due to the unrealistic drugs she prescribes. Not many people can afford $600 out of pocket eye drops every month. A caring and competent healthcare provider isn’t going to prescribe the latest and most unattainable drugs that most patients won’t have access to due to finances. Unconscionable and very out of touch with patient needs.

The office personnel are very welcoming. Dr Rugama is very professional and personable. Theresa is very patient and made my selection of frames an easy and enjoyable experience. I'm pleased with my friend's recommendation to see Dr. Rugama.
