Hope for my family
Dr. McDevitt has been working with me for several years to help me survive the teen years of my adopted special needs daughter. He presents helpful information professionally. His knowledge is vast and his personal experiences with tough to raise kids provides a great base for his ability to help the entire family. I will continue this journey until we make it through and am very grateful for his help.

Dr. McDevitt has been helping our child to develop the skills and personal tools they need to cope with their difficulties. He's always been very attentive and supportive to us in helping our child, and our child actually enjoys 'talking doctor' visits. Dr. McDevitt provides tools for our child and for us to support our child better when they are having difficulties.

Dr. McDevitt has helped my son develop self resilience through thoughtful guided reflection. When my son began he was in crisis, telling his 4th grade teacher he planned to hurt himself. After screening dozens of PHD trained counselors we chose Dr McDevitt because he was highly recommended and took our insurance. He has navigated the perils of divorced parents and the unique needs of a child on the spectrum. Throughout he has remained above the fray, always impartial and professional. He supported my son’s request to reduce the frequency of visits to monthly. My son’s psychiatrist told us it’s important to maintain the relationship throughout the teen years as so much change occurs so quickly. I am deeply grateful to Dr McDevitt for all he has done to help my son.

My son has been seeing Dr McDevitt going on four years. FOUR YEARS!!! With no end in sight. My son has a meltdown almost every time he has to go because he hates it so much. Dr McDevitt even admits that sometimes he spends the entire session with my son arguing about the necessity for counseling. When I asked Dr McD if that is beneficial or therapeutic he just chuckled. We are a divorced family so it’s more challenging to agree on a course of action, but my fear is that seeing a counselor my son doesn’t feel he needs, whose style doesn’t suit him, will turn him off to counseling in the future when he may actually need it again. My son is like night and day from when he first started going as a fourth grader (although how much of a role Dr McDevitt played in that is highly questionable.) The huge breakthrough was his ADHD diagnosis, which McD told us for TWO YEARS our son didn’t have. I find his judgment and motives for PROLONGED counseling highly lacking and questionable.

Dr. McDevitt is an extremely skilled technician and most importantly, I trust his judgment and feedback. He has helped me gain confidence in areas that affected my daily production in the workplace. With the progress that I have made, my level of stress has decreased profoundly and my peace of mind increased. Thank you Doc!

Dr. McDevitt has been an incredible help for my children during my divorce. He is fair and honest. My kids have blossomed under his care. If your children are seeing a therapist, you as a parent must be willing change your own behaviours to improve your child's life. Dr. McDevitt was the right therapist for us at the right time.

I have told many friend to not see Dr. McDevitt. He may be experienced, but his communication with divorced parents is poor. He sided with the dad rather than addressing issues with the dad, despite what our sons were saying. It seemed he was afraid of the dad, so he didn't want to make waves and deal with the real issues. With the diagnosis of my son's ADHD, he kept trying to move on to other issues rather than discuss what treatment entailed. I had to keep redirecting to the treatment.
