I've started seeing Dr. Williams both alone, and in couples format with my partner, and he has been nothing but a positive force for both my personal growth and resilience and the strength of my marriage. He is an active listener, non-judgmental, and offers concrete solutions to try out.

Deplorable. No other word for this man. He has a casual cruelty to him, I came to him ti explore a very difficult issue and I was stunned by his lack of professionalism and lack of basic empathy and kindness.

He jumps to conclusions, end sessions without any reason. Charges full copay for partial sessions. He misinterprets a lot of what is confided. Definitely passive aggressive. He liked to put me on the defensive. Plays manipulative mind games. I went to him needing to safely confide in someone. He lost my trust once I saw through him. He barely listens and often acted irritable, bored or angry. He talks about professional ethics often but I didn't see any at work. I grew increasingly uncomfortable with his obsession for finding a pathology in anything I brought up. He invented statements I never made then included them in his session notes.

Dr. Williams is helping me navigate some challenging issues in my life. He listens, then asks questions to direct my thoughts. He has a very calm and soothing manner. His compassionate demeanor leaves me feeling lighter, more focused and more able to deal with the problems confronting me. I appreciate that he does both in-person and virtual sessions. He understands that there will not always be a good fit and asked me how I felt at the end of the first session. I was happy to continue and have not regretted that decision. I highly recommend him.

Upon our initial pre-appointment interview, he seemed a good fit. In the middle of the 2nd appointment, he decided that we were not a good fit and that I should find someone else. This was based on my asking for clarification of things that didn't make sense to me during the appointment. For instance, why he was repeating housekeeping things that had been covered during the first appointment. He hadn't submitted something in his electronic records it seems. He then took the time to review his notes . He let me know that he was having "a morning". When we got started, he seemed distracted and disinterested (bored and angry). He kept asking "and then what?". Instead of feeling validated and safe during this appointment, I felt judged and insignificant. He seems to take things personally and to jump to conclusions. I felt I had done something terribly wrong until I looked at the reviews from this website. I see that it may be patterned behavior.

Legitimately a harmful practitioner. Projects his own considerable sensitivity and troubled history onto his clients. Easily annoyed and passive aggressive. Avoid.

I found Dr. Williams to be very compassionate, understanding, and very interested in what I had to say. He is very professional and I never feel rushed. He is very patient as I can run on with my mouth and he gently brings me back in without making me feel bad. I also like that he asks permission to speak about certain topics, checks in during our conversations to see if he has grasped what I am trying to say and offers information or suggestions to help me understand what I'm saying. Ha ha! I often go off on a tangent forgetting why I did that and he gives me gentle reminders of how I got there I'm very, very happy with my sessions with him. He also has an amazing memory! I'm waiting for the day when I can do a live session in lieu of virtual one to help me with other issues where the treatment is best done in the office.

I contacted Seth Williams in May 2020 to deal with major treatment-resistant depression, the longtime deaths of my fellow HIV/AIDS friends and lovers, and suicidal ideation. He seemed to be a good fit, given his stated long term experience with gay and HIV/AIDS patients. When I shared my rather astonished concerns that as a Portland area psychologist with 17 years experience with such a clientele, he was unfamiliar with major gay services including the Multnomah County HIV AIDS Clinic, and Care Assist the state agency that administers federal funds to assist patient co-pays he became defensive and said I was challenging his qualifications. I told him I was sharing my legitimate concerns. I must characterize his defensiveness as vociferous. We ended our relationship after two sessions. I can only sum up my experience with this provider as promising at first, then profoundly disappointing in the course of eleven days. Michael Stewart, Hillsboro, OR - June 20, 2020

I contacted him and mentioned I had issues to resolve with broken trust. He asked for my personal information and said he would tell me what my out of pocket would be. He then said he wanted to talk with me as he was concerned about being a 3rd professional to disappoint me? He never called me or followed up. My voids of trust had nothing to do with therapy and I feel a caring therapist would have either said they were available or not - maybe kind enough to offer a referral.

He listened to my concerns and tested me for aspergers when nobody else would listen. We found out that I am in fact on the spectrum. He's easy to relate to, comforting, and hilarious. He even allowed me to bring my young son to a session when I had no other options and was very accommodating. Sessions with him don't feel like a doctor visit. They feel like you're just hanging out with an old friend and catching up.
