Shari failed to provide proper informed consent and treatment options for a wart on my 4 year old’s hand. She wanted to use cantharidin on the wart (which is not fda approved). I asked if other treatment options were available including cyro, she told me no, not at her practice for his age. This was inaccurate information. He has since seen an MD at NEDA as well as an NP, who have both treated with cyro and wartpeel. She also failed to inform me of the risk of the medication causing his wart to spread into a ring wart. His wart went from less than 5mm to more than 20mm. Although I now know that it is a risk with the treatment and not her fault that it happened, it is her fault that she failed to obtain proper informed consent and to discuss other treatment options. Has she discussed other options or informed me of the risk, I would not have chosen this treatment. Nearly 8 months and 6 more treatments later, it has still not resolved.

Didn’t obtain informed consent before treatment. Offered only one treatment option. Said that option had no side effects. When asked if there were other options, she quickly said “nope this is what we’re doing”. The statement that there were no side effects was a blatant lie and below the standard of care.
