Great person...very understanding & listens to my needs. I'm able to tell her anything without judgment and she works with me to figure out what's best for my future. I would recommend anyone talks to Steph. She really helps me to see things differently and progress quickly and in a healthy way through any situation. Do you want someone who REALLY listens and understands? Steph is your person. Once she is on your side, you feel like you can take on anything! I am SO grateful for all the times she has been there for me, with no judgment. She sees each person AS a person and respects your decisions/choices in life. I don't know what I would do without her....5 stars for sure!

The care Steph expresses for the well-being of her clientele is genuine, and her probity is unquestionable. Steph has been a leader in the mental health community for several years, first through her work at BryanHealth, and then in private practice. I am proud to have worked with her in a collegial capacity. She has been a tireless advocate for LGBTQ youth and families in her role as a therapist. Steph volunteers her time with PFLAG, and provides mentoring to young social work students. I have shared many clients with her through the years, and respect that she makes difficult decisions with integrity and courage.

From my personal experience, one should be very careful in being seen by this therapist. For example, during marriage counseling she has picked and chosen sides. Being an alleged professional, I found it odd that she was doing this. After not taking her advice to divorce my wife, she did not want to see me anymore for marriage counseling, yet continued to see my wife. Back in April, my wife disclosed to me that the therapist was going through her own maritial issue and was pursuing a divorce! I was shocked hearing this from my wife. Stephanie Hickey (Engelbart) had the audacity to give us marriage counseling, all the while going through divorce her self. Cannot fathom in good ethical consciences how she could do that. However, when Medicare/VA are footing the bill, income is income. Very enlightened from that experience!
