A very poor experience. The therapist was extremely unprofessional: refused to explain his approach, refused to set goals or discuss the treatment plan for 5 sessions, practiced transference (a psychoanalytical method) when I explicitly asked him not to. Declined my requests as a patient, doubted my boundaries, and eventually attempted to gaslight me when I decided to change the healthcare provider. I came into therapy balanced and calm (my goal was to improve my communication with others and work on my residence), and my interactions with Dr Rothenberg ended up destabilizing my nervous system and making me extremely anxious. I had to seek out-of-network therapy to remedy this, and my new therapist strongly supported my decision not to continue with Dr Rothenberg and validated my judgment.
