When I was a teen, somewhere between 2006-2009 my mother brought me to Terry to be treated. I was a closeted lesbian in a christian household and a survivor of early childhood trauma. Neither of which Terry was able to ferret out. The experience of my mother getting to vent about me weekly and then having to do exposure therapy what not awesome. As an adult who has eventually found great relief in DBT and trauma therapy I urge Terry to consider trauma as root for OCD especially in children and adolescents. AND adopt an approach beyond pure CBT. Especially for those with marginalized identities (including women). One of the last things Terry said to me was that I would one day look back and thank her. Instead of thanking, I posit to Terry: It took me years to dig myself out of my upbringing, come out, and come into my own power. Learn to be a ladder for the children who have to hide who they are.
