Will Slotky, MSW

I've been seeing Will for about 4 years. Prior to meeting Will, I bounced around a lot with various Talk Therapists (7). That all changed once I met Will Slotky. He's bright and can read in-between the lines (relates well to what I'm saying and helps in reframing my feelings/comments... in a more positive and constructive manner. He has helped me like no other.

I found my experience with Will Slotky appalling. He was callous, condescending, and dismissive - an experience utterly divorced from those I've had with past therapists. Equally upsetting, it soon became clear he barely listened to a word I said, with basic issues covered in one session completely forgotten by the next. Throughout, I felt so uncomfortable talking to him that I dreaded our appointments. The only thing that kept me in therapy with him - a parent's recent diagnosis with a terminal illness - was also the issue he exclusively urged me to "reframe" or "get over," with no apparent awareness that said illness might, in fact, be an unavoidable source of pain and anxiety, regardless of my "outlook." His only other suggestions were to 1) join clubs so I could be more social (ignoring my repeated statements that I had an active, fulfilling social life), and 2) try an herbal supplement. Quitting therapy with him did wonders for my mental health. Avoid at all costs.

He is an active listener. He made me and my child feel very comfortable. It was like talking to an old friend. He was very helpful and gave realistic insight and advice. He didn’t just nod and say “how does that make you feel” - he was actually helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing counseling for their child.

Unethical in "counseling" clients. Arrogantly opinionated, offering, without having been asked to do so, and based solely on discussion(s) having taken place in one on one, individual "therapy" sessions, his personal thoughts and opinions regarding DSM diagnosis and treatment of 3rd party individuals with whom he has not even spoken to, & are not seeking his services in any way shape or form. He's "The Sleazy Car Salesman" of "therapists" using a nonchalant approach to "therapy"/manipulation.
