I had an extremely troubling experience at Boynton Physicians Group with Dr. Eduardo Hidalgo. On January 7, I arrived at the office for a routine lab appointment. After providing my new insurance card to the receptionist, I was handed a consent form for a pelvic exam. Since I receive pelvic exams from my OB-GYN and not my PCP, I chose not to sign the form. When I told the receptionist I would not be signing it, she explained that many patients mistakenly think the exam is a Pap smear and clarified that it was actually just to 'feel around the area.' I reiterated that I didn’t want this type of exam from my PCP, as I entrust this care to my OB-GYN. Despite my explanation, I was told by multiple female staff members at the reception desk that I would not be seen unless I signed the consent form for the pelvic exam.
