Medical visit's ok, billing nightmare

I went to Palmetto Primary Care for my annual physical related to my employment. On my 3d provider since I started coming in 2017, so that's great. Appointment went well, although the diagnostic follow-up my employer requested took a bit of finagling. Billing has been a nightmare. Since it wasn't exactly 365+ days since my last appointment, they took it upon themselves to code it as a non-preventative health appointment, which my insurance requires a copay for. However, my insurance covers 1 preventative health appointment in a CALENDAR year, meaning if I get a physical on 30 Dec and another on 2 Jan, they would cover both. Now I'm getting bills and calls regarding my balance, even though they promised to review the insurance coding. The moment they turn this over to collections is the moment I find a lawyer and they lose my business forever. For the rest of you, caveat emptor.
