Dr. Alan Zakaria, DO

I as a patient for 3 years. Staff rude...it's apparently an inconvenience to contact the office regarding anything.

Truly cares about my well-being and is very attentive. He is both my wife's and my primary care doctor and would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

I had a good experience with Dr. Alan Zakaria for the most part. He always addressed my questions and concerns and seemed knowledgeable about all of the current medical science. The only problem is outside of his office I could not reach him. If I called him or emailed him I would never hear back until my next appointment, usually the following annual physical. This is unfortunate since the Beaumont MyChart system provides a very user friendly interface with a direct message line to the providers. I've heard many doctors use this and it's extremely helpful for specific questions that shouldn't warrant an office or telehealth appointment. I had the same experience with phone calls, I once missed a call and Dr. Z. Left a voicemail. I called his office back for a follow up and they assured me he would return my call but nothing. I'm not asking for my doctor to be on call for me 24/7 but a simple response to an email or returned call would be all that is needed for a 5 star review.

I was given only the teleconference option on two different occasions, once after being in the hospital for several days, and once after visiting the urgent care twice in 3 days. It takes months to see the specialist, and in the meantime you can't even see the doctor face to face...The covid vaccine has been out for a looong time now. Some patients need to be seen, in a timely fashion. That is in face WHY they say to contact your PCP. Not so they too can give you the run around.

Positive outcome. Dr. Zakaria performed a thorough examination. He asked questions, listened carefully and provided a good plan to get me better. I have enthusiastically recommended him to friends and family.

I am a newer patient. They were able to schedule me quickly. All messages and data were quickly entered into my patient portal and I received a follow up call regarding all of my test results. I feel like I have a true doctor patient relationship compared to my previous.

Had a few visits but found his staff to be distant and even rude. I’m diabetic and called in for a med refill that dr said he would submit and did not. Had to call twice to get script actually called in. Receptionist said well, you just called yesterday it takes a little time when it was supposed to be called in 2 weeks prior. He referred me to 2 other doctors rather than treating me himself. I felt like he was blowing me off and sending me to someone else to handle. He was not interested in working with me from where I was at just wanted to hand me off. I don’t think I’m going back to him.
