PATIENT BEWARE
I was referred to her from one of my dr.s for stomach issues. At the first appointment she was condescending and came off impatient and snarky with smirks. I assumed she just had a different personality and shrugged it off because I needed care. WRONG. Next follow up appointment she told me she couldn’t give me any reasons or explanation on my issues without a colonoscopy. In this appointment she asked me the same question 2 times and then asked my partner the same question after me by cutting me off. She prescribed meds but didn’t explain what they were for. After this appointment I canceled my colonoscopy with her because she confused and scared me with her complete unprofessional manner. I then found these many similar reviews and knew I made the right choice by going to see someone else.

Just another bad review to add to the pile.
I was referred to Dr. Oakes by my regular doctor. As others have stated, she was very condescending and talked to me like I was a toddler. Half way through my appointment she had to leave the room for a minute and I legitimately got my phone out to look at her reviews because I was upset with how unprofessional and rude she was being and wanted to see if this was normal. I was shocked to see all of the reviews while I was sitting her office. After that I tried my best to “be on my best behavior” but she was still horrible. Her condescending smirk and nod while she answers questions make you feel stupid. She didn’t give me any real direction, just asked what I wanted done. I came for YOUR professional opinion, not my own. She got super short and snarky with me when she asked me a few questions because I guess I didn’t answer the way she wanted me to. Just an overall bizarre interaction. Definitely the worst doctor I’ve had an appt with. I left feeling worse than I went in. AVOID!!

Questionable professional competency
My wife was referred to Dr. Oakes for evaluation of a chronic cough which may be due to her gastric lap-band. I was present with my wife for the consultation. Dr. Oakes made several misstatements during the consult. Dr. Oakes misread my wife's chart, stating that the records indicate she has had part of her colon removed. We questioned that statement (it was wrong), and Dr. Oakes changed her statement, saying that polyps were removed (correct) but denied what she initially said. My wife mentioned that the lap-band occasionally causes difficulty swallowing. Dr. Oakes said 'they don't do that'. That is factually incorrect; in fact the surgeon who initially placed the band told us that difficulty swallowing is a primary mechanism of action. We should have walked away then but did not; instead we went forward with endoscopy by Dr. Oakes. After the procedure, Dr. Oakes told us that lap-bands are placed 'in the stomach'. They are not. I consider this an egregious medical misunderstanding.

Will not return. Ever.
Went for upper right quadrant abdominal intense pain. Dr. Oakes was dismissive, condescending, and rude. I had questions about my liver and she just handed me a pamphlet without any other explanations. Prescribed nothing for pain, dismissed and said I just needed to lose weight. Overheard her telling her assistant “whatever…just have her follow up in 3 months” regarding my next steps for care. Never called me with any of my lab results. Was supposed to have a scan and endoscopy scheduled, was given information about endoscopy appt but when called hospital day before procedure to follow up, they hadn’t been given any info about it from Dr. Oakes’ office and everything had to be rescheduled after I had taken day off work etc. The number her office gave me to schedule the scan was a fax number and was unable to reach anyone at her office to get corrected number (made appt on my own with a different practice). Never was contacted about results from the endoscopy. Nope!

No Surprise Her Reviews are all 1 Star!
Telehealth
I called the Doctor on call last night after having an ERCP by Dr. Hilbig. I was supposed to be prescribed anti-nausea medication, but it was not at the pharmacy. Dr. Oaks was dismissive that it was an emergency, acted 'confused' about what it was I needed prescribed, basically told me 'not my job' and finally relented that I could have the pharmacy call her at a number not disclosed on my phone and the pharmacy could go through the 5 steps to actually get through to her to 'make sure it truly was an emergency.' I ended the call. Fifty minutes later she called wondering why the pharmacy hadn't called her and I told her I just got something over the counter. She told me she was driving and that was why she wasn't up to the task. I too am a professional, and I am able to take calls on the road, and if need be to take notes, I can pull over or say 'may I call you right back?' Her lack of professional manners or helpfulness to someone in dire pain was deplorable. Steer clear!

Nightmare ( ZERO STARS )
Rude, ignorant, late, judgmental, short, cold, interruptive, would never in my life recommend anyone to this doctor or go back. In disbelief at her audacity to behave in such a way. If you hate your career, find another one. If you can’t be kind, considerate and professional, PLEASE find something else to do!

Never again
I can’t believe I was referred to Dr. Oakes. I’m sure there are things she is good at, but talking to her patients is not one of them. I am a pretty intelligent person, but she talked to me like I was a 5 year old. Waste of time. I will not be back.

RUDE. She needs compassion training.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it's been awhile since the appointment and it still makes me sad. You go to the doctor for help not to be bullied. I have never met a doctor who makes you feel less than a human. No humanity! Way beyond just the type of doctor without personal skills. After reading these reviews I was relieved to hear that I was not alone. Dr. Oakes needs to have compassion training.

Condescending and not empathetic
Alison’s assistant was great. She was very friendly, helpful, and energetic. Dr. Oakes on the other hand was not. She was short and condescending in her responses, she showed zero empathy towards my concerns, annoyed by my questions, and consistently stated that “per the guidelines this is what we recommend”. Why ask me about my concerns if you are not willing to help me consider other options and recommendations. The whole process was very robotic and disappointing. I am sad that I did not get the support that I needed and deserved. I will not be coming back.

Down right ignorant
I went for abdominal pain and was criticized for not being on a diet plan. She asked what exam I wanted I told her I came to her for a recommendation and she said it’s hard know with “pain that comes and goes” and “you don’t know where it is “ yes I did know where it was, she was more interested in acting superior to me. Will never go again and will never refer.

Rushed, Rude and condescending
I went in for an endoscopy procedure recommended by my doctor. It was obvious she had never looked over my chart and was very snippy and made sure to judge every single life choice I had made in my 45 years. I hope everyone reading this reconsiders seeing her. No bedside manner at all. I can’t believe her fellow clinicians are still recommending her

Wow! I wish I could have read these reviews before hand! All of these one star reviews accurately describe how horrible my appointment was with Dr Oakes. I’ve had a long history of GERD and she acted like she could careless. She was condescending, unprofessional, disrespectful, rude, and had horrible bedside manner! She wasn’t helpful and any question my mom and I asked she acted as if we were stupid. I felt second hand embarrassment for how immature and disrespectful she was being. A doctor should be sympathetic, caring, kind, genuine, and trustworthy and she wasn’t one of those.

Dr. Allison Oaks and her staff made me feel very comfortable for my procedure. It’s obvious that she has a wealth of knowledge in gastroenterology and her bedside manner is perfect. She was very compassionate and kind. Explained things thoroughly. The nurses and staff at the hospital were very accommodating and helpful. The whole experience was professionals, comfortable and compassionate. I am very grateful. She is an amazing doctor! All of the staff at Alta View Hospital were amazing. They handled my concerns and my questions with great care. Not sure I’ve ever had a better medical experience. The anesthesiologist, Sage, was just as amazing. Very grateful. If I could give her and the staff more than five stars on the review, I would.

Dr Oakes is condescending and rude. My husband and I were both very surprised to have a "professional" speak to us in that manner. I saw her twice and she was condescending both times. She seemed irritated with me and only seemed to be interested in getting me in for an endoscopy. The office staff and medical assistant were very kind and helpful.

My wife went in for a check up. First of all the office staff are great, Cindy was really kind and patient. My wife had been in once before and thought Dr. Oakes was condescending with really poor bedside manner. The last time my wife went in she cried out of frustration and from being treated so poorly, and said Dr. Oakes seemed annoyed with her questions. I said I would go in with her the next time. Dr. Oakes was rude and condescending to both of us! It was as though we we're wasting her time being there. I asked a couple of questions, and she didn't answer my questions. Dr. Oakes said that the endoscopy is performed at Altaview Hospital, so I asked, who will perform the procedure? (A reasonable question, because sometimes imaging is performed by a third party) and she said in a condescending tone, "I am the physician, I will be performing the endoscopy." Well, guess what you're not THE ONLY PHYSICIAN! I wonder if the 5 star reviews are computer generated, because all of the 1 star r
