Dr Zauner operated on me in 2006 at Jackson Memorial Hospital, he coiled my aneurysm, other centers wanted to do open surgery, it’s been almost 20 years and I’m still doing great, I wish he wasn’t so far away.

Very competent doctor
Dr Zauner took the time to listen to my symptoms and concerns I have been having for over 15 years. He is knowledgeable and very intelligent but doesn't let his ego or get in the way like most doctors I have been to. He was honest and upfront about his own expertise and what was not on his arena of knowledge. Really enjoyed speaking with this kind and caring doctor. Such a rarity these days!! Only complaint was that I waited 90 minutes before getting called into the room. But that was quickly forgotten after speaking with him.

Dr Zauner also saved my life. After tripping on a concrete slab that markets seem to think they need, I fell and hit my head. After couple tests at local hospital was sent by ambulance to Santa Barbara for emergency surgery. Dr Louis Zauner removed a large hematoma on my brain and saved my life. I did not actually meet him until I went to have the stitches removed. I was told repeatedly that he was the best and I was fortunate that he was available. I feel this is true and blessed . I agree with all the previews above about how great he is. In order to do this surgery, it was necessary to shave off a strip of my hair on the right side of my head. (several inches wide) I have very long hair which had not been cut since beginning of the Covid epidemic. When first meeting him I remarked, I just wanted to see what man cut off my hair! then remarked I guess I should thank you for saving my life! He took all of that in stride then remarked, It was an emergency situation. Its OK

10yrs ago I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. My family was called in to hospital to say goodbye. Call placed to Dr Zauner who agreed to try to save me. He did and I feel blessed to still have contact for follow ups. His bedside manner and info he shared was extremely comforting. The best in the West!

I will be forever grateful that I ended up at Cottage Hospital with Dr. Zauner as my neurosurgeon. I was sent via ambulance to Santa Barbara from San Luis Obispo with a serious blocked carotid artery & several aneurisms...after 2 surgeries & 8 days in the hospital my result was pretty amazing. I could have lost my eyesight, speech, movement & so much more!! I have slight impairment but very little & with therapy,I will be totally normal. Dr. Zauner exuded confidence while remaining approachable & kind...I think he is THE BEST!!

Doctor Zauner is knowledgeable, takes time to explain the procedure to the family, very patient and compassionate. After the procedure, he looks for the family to let know how everything went. I trusted him since the beginning without doubts. My husband is recovering very well. God bless you always doctor Zauner. You are amazing.

Is simply the best Neurosurgeon this part of the world. Bar none, no one is better than him at what he does. How he only got 4 and 1/2 stars is a tragedy. if I can give him 10 stars I would. He saves lives plain and simple.

I suffered a stroke in 2012 with a less than 10% statistical chance of survival. Not only did I survive, but at work they call me 2.0 - 'new and improved'. Dr. Zauner's care for me was outstanding, but the care he provided to my family was amazing. His quiet demeanor and focus exuded confidence and hope for those who waited and wanted for a wonderful outcome. I believe it's God who heals and I recognize that God works miracles through professionals like Dr. Zauner and his staff. Thank you!

The staff there at this location is just piss poor always rude and making the patients feel as though they are bothering them. When all the patient is doing is following up since the staff forgot. Then making up lies to get said patient to just leave or quit calling. Staff should be courteous and compassionate nurse practitioner Corey and scheduler Jessica add to the stress of patients that go there. Which is dangerous to patients injury, they need more compassion and better training.

Patient 0 in Santa Paula, CA – Apr 23, 2016
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Zauner?
Dr. Zauner is very competent with his brain surgery skills, but his staff lacks the personal and professionalism of patient after care. The Patient Care Coordinator, Jessica failed to complete the EDD claim for the patient's disability, while recuperating from surgery. When confronted, why this vital information was not reported to EDD, no answer was given, not even an apology to correct/amend the claim. Dr. Zauner should know and reprimand his staff for this total disregard to patient care.
