Chronic Pain for Life thanks to Patel
I had 2 level ACDF surgery performed by Dr. Patel on my neck March 16, 2023. I have been in agonizing pain ever since. My neck turns purple and swells up to the point I can’t even hold it up. I have been to physical therapy multiple times and have to see a pain doctor every month. Multiple X-rays, mris, cat scans, nerve tests, and all point to the surgery. No prior neck or back issues before. Dr Patel and his office wouldn’t even see me, talk to me, or respond to me after 6 months or so, telling me everything looks great and pushed me off on a pain doctor. The minute I was rolled out the door I felt like I didn’t matter. After contacting the administrator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, was greeted by an extremely rude phone call with 2 individuals, I was blocked from contacting Patels office, and sent a nasty letter. I have since moved to rush but the damage continues. Ii have since had injections in my lumbar for bulging discs in my lower back and neck, nerve blocks, and now looki

Great Job from a caring person
Dr. Patel did a great job on my lumbar spine. His diagnosis was spot-on, and his minimally-invasive approach solved the problem with same-day surgery and conscientious follow-up. Symptoms of spinal stenosis disappeared quickly. He cares about his patients and really wants to help. If he is late, be assured that he is giving another patient the same excellent care he will give you. Thank you, Dr Patel!

I can not recommend Dr Alpesh Patel highly enough. I suffered for years with debilitating cervical back and nerve pain that extended to my extremities and severely limited my ability to work, socialize and complete activities of daily living. I was disabled and without hope when I visited Dr Patel. He is a caring surgeon who sits closely to listen and looks you in the eye while explaining complex medical issues clearly and pragmatically. He patiently answered a million questions. I went into my multi-level ACDF surgery with guarded expectations due to the prolonged nature of my symptoms. While the recovery process is ongoing two months post surgery I am already pain free. Dr Patel has given me my life back. If you are suffering like I was do yourself a favor and visit Dr Patel. He is a brilliant and exceptional surgeon but above all compassionate! My family felt safe throughout because of Dr Patel and his amazing team. If only I had been able to get the surgery years ago!

Dr Patel and his entire team (PA Jeremy Lavra, nurse Linda S) provided me with extraordinary healthcare. I came in complaing about persistent pain and numbness in my arm and hand. Now, two months after cervical fusion surgery done at NW, I am back to my full range of motions and activities without any symptoms. It’s not only the advanced technology, but an ability to listen, understand , explain and communicate that really sets this team apart from others. I would highly recommend Dr Patel!

I saw Dr. Patel about a month ago for severe leg pain radiating down my left leg, refractory to more conservative treatments. I was so impressed with his knowledge and demeanor and when he told me he could operate 6 days later, I was so relieved. I left his office feeling great about his knowledge and skills. I’m 3 weeks post-op and I’ve never felt better. Such easy recovery and looking forward to getting my life back.

While Dr. Patel scheduled my surgery, he told me that he wanted me to do (another) round of physical therapy before the surgery to see if I could avoid having the fusion. Honestly, I didn't have much hope. He told me that the therapist must use the McKenzie method of PT (the only kind I had not tried). It's working so well, I can delay indefinitely. How many surgeons try to help you heal without surgery?!?! If I end up needing spinal fusion in the future, Dr. Patel will be my choice.

My experience with Dr. Patel was outstanding. I had a herniated disc in my lower spine that caused severe pain down the back of both of my legs. Having done chiropractic and p.t., I decided (with Dr. Patel’s guidance) to have an epidural injection. Unfortunately, afterwards, the pain remained. I finally opted for surgery, and was pain free VERY quickly. It was the absolute best decision! PT was incredibly helpful for preventing re-injury. I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Patel!

I had ACDF surgery on 12/29/16 with Dr. Patel. From my pre-op appointments to surgery to now post op I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Patel. I recovered much more quickly than expected and I owe that all to Dr. Patel. He has an excellent bedside manner, answers all questions and made sure I was comfortable with having surgery. He explained all options to me along with pros and cons of each. I cannot thank Dr. Patel enough for relieving my pain and getting me back on my feet quickly! Thank you

Dr. Patel is a very knowledgeable, caring and kind surgeon. He took the time to answer all my questions and was sure to check that I was comfortable with my care plan. He is a fantastic doctor and I would highly recommend him to my family and friends. I am so glad I went to him for a second opinion.

I had back pain for years. I went to a pain clinic and had epidural injections that eased part of the pain for a month or so. I went to see Dr. Patel and he explained what he saw in the MRI and what he could do to lessen the pain I had. There was no guarantee that the surgery would ease all of the pain I was experiencing. .I opted to have the surgery in August of 2014. My back pain is completely gone. Would I recommend Dr. Patel? You bet I would!

I have been in pain with spinal stenosis for almost two years. I was set to have a spinal fusion with another orthopedic surgeon, but I had a second opinion with Dr Patel. That was a good idea. He performed a lumbar laminectomy and I am now pain free since Dec 17, 2015. Everything Dr Patel said would happen did happen. Wish everyone could have this great experience and outcome. Highest recommendation!
