Kindness and compassion when it matters!
Dr. Varkaris is currently treating my father for difficult and fast-moving cancer. He takes his time before responding to questions. Like he actually stops and thinks about what his patient has asked before eloquently responding. He has been so informative with all kinds of information. He does not shirk away from telling the bad news. He tells it in such a compassionate way and then spends as much time as necessary to make sure his patient (and this daughter) understands the topic and what the next steps are. When my father recently got some positive news, for a change, Dr. Varkaris was right there, holding his curmudgeonly patient's hands, so happy to be celebrating this small win with him. At the same time, he is firm in what he advises needs to be done next. Cancer is a b*tch but if you have to go through its battle there couldn’t be a better provider, and his equally amazing team, to help you navigate through.
