Negligent!!
I would never recommend this Andrew Bates as a surgeon!! After I woke up from surgery, I was in agonizing pain... I never should have been in the amount of pain I was when I woke up. I told the Andrew Bates right before my discharge that day that I was in severe pain and his comment was take (over the counter aspirin). 8 hours later I was still in agonizing pain, I called his office to let him know that I shouldn't be left in this condition, he said he refused to give me anything but aspirin.... I told him my oncologists that treated me for cancer for over a year would never leave me in such a inhumane manner... to which he replied 'then go to them and hung up on me' I would never refer this individual to anyone for surgery!! He is inhumane and should not be practicing!!

Dr. Andrew Bates took the time to explain my hernia surgery and made sure all my questions were answered about the surgery and recovery. This amazing surgeon is not only highly skilled and professional, but also has a kind and soothing bed side manner. I highly recommend him.

My primary sent me to Dr Bates to check some infected cysts on my chin. I so appreciate that Dr Bates chose to try antibiotics, before treatment more aggressive.

Dr. Bates literally gave me my life back after performing my gallbladder surgery. I had been suffering extreme pain for years and no one took me seriously. After finally getting a diagnosis, Dr. Bates took over for my surgery, including pre- and post-op care. He was professional, thorough, compassionate, highly intelligent, skilled and with a great bedside manner—everything you could wish for in a doctor who you are entrusting to remove one of your organs. As I write this, I am 18 days post-op and feel better than I have in YEARS. Thank you, Dr. Bates.

An amazing surgeon. I had inflamed appendix, went to the Stony Brook University Hospital ER. I had to wait 48 hours for blood thinner I take to diminish before surgery. Dr Bates spent time with me in pre-op explaining what would happen during and after laparoscopic appendix removal. I left the hospital 8 hours later. No pain. 3 tiny incisions sealed with "glue." It's almost like it never happened. Thank you Dr. Bates.
